My thanks to everyone for the warm welcome you extended to me and to Jeanne this past Sunday. I've long respected what Highland is and who its people are, and having traveled in similar circles for many years, it was nice to reconnect with many people I already knew. But it was especially nice to begin hearing the rich individual stories that come together to form the tapestry of faith at Highland. I look forward to sharing in worship with you and serving alongside your ministry team and all who give of their time at Highland.
By way of introducing myself a bit more, here is an image of something that has long been on my desk. It's a replica of a Rodin sculpture called "The Cathedral." It looks a bit like the famous "Praying Hands," but that's not what it is. Rather than one person's right and left hands, it's two right hands coming together, which is why it has always been one of favorite images of a church. Thank you for allowing me to join my hands with yours for a season, and I look forward to all we'll do as we follow God together!
