Fred Bogert

Music Director to Friday Church

Fred’s professional background as music producer/composer began in 1972, after his studies at the University of Miami School of Music. Fred has always had a natural affinity for cultivating creative expression in those he works with, a skill that blossomed when he started working with members of the Association of Unity Churches, International in the 1990’s. During that time Fred received his Bachelor of Fine Arts, Music from Florida Atlantic University, before moving his family to Nashville in 1992.

Fred reopened both RCA Studio C and RCA Studio B during his decade on Music Row, directing and producing over 3,000 recordings and live concerts in venues including the Fillmore West and the Ryman Auditorium. Three of the albums Fred produced were nominated for Grammy awards.

During the first few years of the new millennium Fred traveled the country visiting Unity and Unitarian Universalist churches as a catalyst for music program development in worship and community events. When Fred moved to Louisville in 2006 he and his new bride Gloria discovered Highland Baptist, a creative, nurturing community blocks from their house. While helping develop Highland’s new service – “Friday Church”, Fred helped HBC’s leadership invigorate the folks at Ridgewood Baptist Church in southwest Louisville. He served as RBC’s part time Minister of Music for 11 years. He was ordained by Ridgewood in 2013.

Fred was recently appointed as Artist in Residence/Music Technologist of Simmons College of Kentucky, and regularly produces recordings and live events with Kentucky Refugee Ministries.

Fred sails often, and has fish living in his yard.
