Highland Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky is seeking to hire a full-time Minister of Music and Worship to oversee and direct a church music program rich in the classical traditions of great choral music, historical hymnody, and thoughtful and creative liturgy.
Duties include conducting a 50-voice Sanctuary Choir, supervising and/or leading additional ensembles such as handbells and childrens’ choir. Other responsibilities include planning and leading worship, collaborating with the organist, and providing pastoral care to all within the music program.
Qualifications require a minimum of a masters degree in music, experience in worship leadership with churches that embrace the full liturgical church year, and evidence of excellent choral music making. Other essentials include a thorough knowledge of classical sacred music from the Western canon, a working understanding of Christian theology and liturgical worship, the ability to work collegially with other ministers and closely with the pastors, the embrace of Highland’s progressive theology and values, and a spirituality that is reflected in pastoral care and worship leadership.
