One of the most sacred moments last week happened on our Friday check-in zoom call with our elementary children. Together, we shared our highs and lows of the week, sang happy birthday to a friend on the call, and used a coloring sheet to ground us that had the words “God calls me…” printed in the center. Together, we shared what God is calling each of us to in these days and our children responded so thoughtfully—to be brave in hard times, wash my hands, do my chores, tell the truth about my emotions and so much more. It was a moment where we moved from the silly and playful into the deep thinking and wondering of our hearts and minds, and it was incredibly sacred.
This week, I hope you’ll take the opportunity to connect in the ways listed below. All Zoom links, etc. were sent via email on Sunday morning. A reminder will be posted in our Facebook group each morning an activity is taking place, with the Zoom link in the comments as well.
Friday, April 3, at 11:30 a.m., for End of the Week Elementary Kids Check-In (Zoom).
Sunday, April 5, at 9:00 a.m., for Family Bible Study Opportunity (Uploaded to YouTube and Children and Family Ministry Facebook Group).
I hope you also found the links to last Sunday’s family Bible study opportunity. I hope to create this resource for you each week, making it available to you on Sunday mornings for your use that day or any day throughout the week. Look for some tips and encouragement on how to create that faith formation rhythm for your family at home very soon. We’re going to keep it simple and encounter God’s mystery and find meaning in that simplicity!
Also be sure to:
- Join our Children and Family Ministry of Highland Facebook Group for prayers, questions, resources and a simple way to stay connected to our community daily.
- If you haven’t signed up for our Highland Kids Newsletter, click here. Zoom links and other detailed information for family Bible study will be sent in this format.
- Register for PASSPORTkids! and VBS Camp. While we can’t predict how the future might unfold in these next few months, I’m currently proceeding onward with planning until I know differently. If anything changes, know that we’ll be flexible and if all moves ahead as originally planned, these camps will be incredible reunions!
Prayers for each of you as you continue through this “spring break” week! For all the plans being grieved, for the juggling between work and home taking place, for the immense patience required of us, may there be grace upon grace as our families move through each moment where we are practicing care for the common good by being #healthyathome.
Take courage. Stop. Breathe. One day at a time. Sending all the virtual hugs and encouragement this day to you and your family. ~ Renee
