Highland’s church family will celebrate All Saints’ Day this Sunday, November 4. In all three morning worship services, we will pause and remember those in our church family who died in the past year: Dick Allison, Phoebe Delamarter, Rylee Edelen, Bob Elliott, and Tish Gardner. We give thanks for their lives as well as God’s unending goodness.

Highland’s Sanctuary Choir will sing three movements from Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem, to remember those who have passed. Accompanied by organ, the requiem uses ancient Gregorian chant with the Latin text from the mass: Grant eternal rest to them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine on them. As a congregation we will lift our voices in song in the opening hymn, For All the Saints:

For all the saints, who from their labors rest,
who Thee by faith before the world confessed,
Thy name, O Jesus, be forever blest. Alleluia!
