Habitat for Humanity’s “Love Your Neighborhood” Event September 21

The Habitat for Humanity and Other Housing Solutions Mission Team invites you to participate in Habitat for Humanity’s “Love Your Neighborhood” event on Saturday, September 21. Habitat’s goal is to make a designated neighborhood more attractive, friendly, and a better place to live. On September 21, we will be focusing on the Portland neighborhood. Our “base” will be at Boone Square Park, 19th and Rowan Street.

Registration will start at 8:30 a.m., and projects will start at 9:00 a.m. Lunch will be served at the park. The work will cease no later 4:00 p.m. However, you can leave anytime that you want.

This can be a family project or even a Bible study class project. There will be work activities for all ages. Those 18 and under will require a responsible parent or adult to accompany them. The “general” work will be focused on street and ally cleanups as well as projects in Boone Square Park. The younger children will paint flowerpots and leave them on neighbors’ porches. All tools and supplies will be provided.

It’s time to sign-up NOW! We need at least 20 volunteers. We might be able to do a Home Repair Project if we have 10 adults wanting to focus on a home in the neighborhood! Let Jim McBee know ASAP via email if you want to volunteer for the “general” work, the “home repair” or both.
