Advent Devotional: Sunday, December 24 – Christmas Eve

Have you ever had one of those moments when you knew your future was about to change forever—either in a good or bad way? You had butterflies in your stomach and you could hear your pulse pounding in your ears.

The birth of a child is one of those times.  As the cry of a baby is heard, mother and father are born, as well as grandparents, aunts, and uncles. And life in that family will never be the same.

On a quiet night so long ago, the world was forever changed when heaven came to earth in the form of a baby. The cries of the newborn child mingled with the lowing of the cattle, the chorus of angels, and the astonishment of seeking shepherds. And on that moonlit night, the face of Love became flesh and blood and dwelt among us.

As we celebrate the birth of the Christ child tomorrow, I pray you can once again feel the stirrings of new birth in your heart. Invite Love and Peace to be born anew in your life, and remember you are a child of the great I AM.

Holy Love, stir our hearts and revive our spirits, as we offer our adoration and gratitude for Love made flesh. Amen.
