Thanksgiving is more than a day, it is a lifestyle.
Over the years, I’ve become increasingly aware of the sheer gift-ness of my life, and of every person and object within it. I’ve had moments that mirrored Merton’s seeing people shining like the sun and I hear myself whispering in response to Life thank you.
As these moments accrue, one detects a pattern of mercy running like a strand throughout one’s life and you realize how it’s all tinged with glory. And you seek to make you your life an imperfect hymn of thanksgiving for all of it.
This desire to embody thanks-giving is strong in this season of my life and ministry, for this calling, this work, and the high honor of being Highland’s pastor has all been gift and grace. For which I give thanks. ~ Joe
