A Time to Listen: Faith Formation at Highland by Carol Harston

As I begin my fifth week as Associate Pastor for Faith Formation and Congregational Engagement, I must pause to let you know how good it is to work among the great riches that is the faith formation already at work at Highland. While I have some initial ideas of how we might further enrich our faith formation programming, I am taking this fall to listen to you. I am meeting with Bible study teachers to learn from them of their experience. I am meeting with Bible study classes to hear about how God is transforming their lives through their class, its teachers, and the communal engagement of scripture is transforming their lives. In November, I will lead conversations with our Wednesday night crowd to invite them to articulate how the practice of Wednesday nights informs their faith.

How is it that God is forming your faith at Highland? What are ways that you yearn for further growth as an individual, a family, or the congregation? Email me so that we might find a time to get together. I will be gathering Adult Ministry Group soon to share the symphony of responses soon, and I would love to add your voice. As you named during Vision 20/20, it is together that we will boldly live out the worship that is our very lives. I look forward to sharing with the congregation more as we continue this journey of discovery, growth, and service.  ~ Carol
