We continue to take steps to move toward the conclusion of our renovation project! Several items that were slated to begin last week were temporarily delayed and will happen this week instead.
Due to illness, the stone mason will begin work installing the stone squares in the lobby today. Hopefully, we will know more about the installation process and any difficulties. You may not know that stone takes awhile to install. Only a single row can be affixed at a time, and then the hypoxy glue used to attach them has to set before the next row can be installed the following day. Because of this, installation of the stone will be lengthy, lasting about thirty days.
On the second floor, the ceilings are in! The last set of cabinets is being installed in the Children’s Commons this week, and all of the door fixtures have been installed with exception of the glass inserts in each door. In addition, the countertops and sinks are being installed today and the plumber will be here tomorrow to hook up the sinks and a dishwasher in the preschool kitchenette.
Outside, the construction team will be pouring concrete on Wednesday to create a new set of stairs and the handicap accessible ramp that will lead into the new lobby.
We also have been updated on the project completion timeline. We anticipate that the second floor will be complete by mid-May, and the lobby and yard work will be complete by early June. The baptistry work will continue into and through the month of June.
We are grateful for everyone’s flexibility as we continue through this season. Thank you for your continued patience as we navigate these waters of renovation together. –Renee Purtlebaugh
