Rain has dampened the ground and created a lot of mud in our construction site this past weekend. Even so, work continues as we move nearer to the conclusion of our project.
We are thrilled that the engraved stones for the lobby have been delivered, and installation of the stone squares should begin this week. Currently, our mason and contracting team are working together to determine the best way to mount the stone to the concrete block wall behind it, due to some voids that were discovered when the brick was removed. Solving this issue will take some time, and it is one of those scenarios where we cannot know how to address the issues that may pop up until the work begins.
On the second floor, ceiling tiles are being put in place and the entire ceiling should be complete by Thursday of this week! As soon as the ceiling is finished, the team will being installing the tile in each classroom. Door handles and other hardware is installed, and we anticipate that the glass in each classroom door will be installed soon as well. There is one final set of cabinets to be installed this week as well.
This week, our contractor will also be having a preliminary meeting with the inspector to evaluate when we will be able to receive a certificate of occupancy. This meeting should reveal the end date for the second floor portion of our project.
We are grateful for everyone’s flexibility as we continue through this season. Thank you for your continued patience as we navigate these waters of renovation together. –Renee Purtlebaugh
