This week brings the continued preparation of the exterior wall where the recently delivered limestone squares will be installed. We hope for good weather so that these can be installed this week. In addition, the renderings for the engraving in the new lobby (“Do Justice. Love Mercy. Walk Humbly With God.”) have returned and been approved, so that process will also begin moving ahead this week. In addition, the exterior steps leading to Fellowship Hall were poured just yesterday.
Upstairs, doors have been installed on classrooms and the glass around those doors was also put in place last week. The toilet partitions are completed, and cabinetry work continues (there are a lot of cabinets!). This week, we expect the delivery of the ceiling tiles for the second floor which should be going in soon after delivery. The floor preparation for tile installation has also begun, with patching of cracks in the concrete floors being quite noticeable, as I took a tour just last night with the Implementation Committee.
The Implementation Committee also met last night for a check-in on budget and progress to date. We are pleased to share that our project continues to be on budget at this point, with some construction contingency funds remaining should they be needed, as we move into the details of the final phase of work involving the baptistry area construction. This good progress report is due to the diligence of Schaefer’s Peary Wilson and our architect, Bruce Rogers, checking in at the completion of each work area to ensure our budget is on track.
We are grateful for everyone’s flexibility as we continue through this season. Thank you for your continued patience as we navigate these waters of renovation together. –Renee Purtlebaugh
