Building Love Renovation Update – Week of January 19

1-19-14A Excitement abounded at Sunday’s walk through of our children and youth spaces! While far from complete, we were able to feel the spaciousness of the layout, appreciate the natural light streaming through the windows, and visualize how this more flexible layout will be used for years to come. Many folks walking through commented that they couldn’t believe this was the same space because there was just so much room! Many thanks to Bruce Rogers, architect, Julie Meehan, interior designer, and Bob Harrett, chair of Highland’s Implementation Committee, for answering questions and interpreting what we were seeing as we walked through. We look forward to another opportunity for a walk-through approximately a month from now. At that point we should be able to see drywall completed, as well as some finishes in process of installation.

As always, weather is a factor in completing outdoor work in a timely fashion and we’ve had a particularly wet and wintry couple of months. At this time, we are still working toward a construction end date of early April, with a few weeks following for furniture installation and stocking of materials in preparation for a grand opening of the space in early May.

1-19-14BWe are grateful for everyone’s flexibility as we continue through this season. Thank you for your continued patience as we navigate these waters of renovation together.
