August 14’s church-wide picnic in Shelby Park was a beautiful celebration of God’s work of Love in Shelby Park that we at Highland get to participate in! The weather was perfect for a picnic, and hundreds gathered for fellowship under the trees of Shelby Park. Our partnership with Riverview Missionary Baptist Church on this gathering fostered meaningful connections, as our neighborhood kids flocked from picking out school supplies to tie-dying t-shirts.
An event of this magnitude would not be possible without the tireless efforts of our volunteers who made it happen. Deep thanks to the following folks who gave incredible gifts for the picnic: Ronnie Gilbert and Tricia Brooks (food preparation); Ryan Davis (logistics and volunteer coordination); Allison Keenan (posters and tie-dying station); Bojangles Blanchard, Brittany Childers- Lainhart, Steve McGibony, Hollan Holm, Dominique James, Emily Hull McGee (set-up); Erin Biery, Jill Ligon Davis, Steven Carr, David Bannister, Jon Martin, Ben, Emma, Brianna, Paxton, Kate Dittmeier Holm, Amy Pacyga, Carly, (tie-dying station); Kathy Belcher, Alex Berrios, Robert Kahne, Cheryl Davis, Erin Biery (clean-up). Thank you!
