Caring & Compassion in a Season of Change: Deacons Retreat to Begin the New Year

2013-2014 Deacons31 deacons and the staff gathered at Wooded Glen Conference center this past weekend for the annual Deacon retreat.

We gathered together for prayer, conversation and education as we prepare for ministry in the coming year. A key component of our time together was the recognition that we must carve out time to care and nourish our individual souls in order to bring our best gifts to the congregation.

The deacon body is a reflection of the larger community—diverse in age and experience but united in our love of Christ and his church. I am grateful for each deacon and the unique set of gifts he or she brings to this ministry. ~ Kathey Golightly-Sanders, Chair of Deacons
