HBC Answers Calling for Justice through January 29 and February 4 Events

Highland Baptist to Christ Church Cathedral (421 South 2nd Street) to a memorial service honoring the 2011 Louisville homicide victims this Sunday, January 29, at 3:00 p.m. We will leave HBC at 1:45 p.m. and meet up with walkers from other churches at the McDonalds at 2nd and Broadway at 2:30 p.m. We will then walk as a group to Christ Church Cathedral for the Interfaith Memorial Service which starts at 3:00 p.m. Family members of the victims will be in attendance. It is important that we share our message with them and with the community that every life lost is a tragedy. If you would like to be a part of this message of care to the victims’ families and to the city, please meet at the church at 1:45 p.m., or at the McDonalds at 2nd and Broadway at 2:30 p.m., or just come to the service at 3:00 p.m. Transportation will be arranged back to the church.

Saturday, February 4, is your opportunity to learn more about the issues affecting Kentucky’s children and about what you can do to make your voice heard. Dr. Terry Brooks, Executive Director of Kentucky Youth Advocates (Kentucky’s leading child advocacy group), will be at HBC at the request of the Justice Ministry Group. He will talk with us about the issues, discuss potential legislative action, and respond to our questions.  The gathering will run from 10:00-noon and will take place in Fellowship Hall.  Childcare for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers will be provided for Highland members; please contact Renee Purtlebaugh by February 1 to RSVP for your child(ren).

Informed by knowledge… and transformed by love, let ours be a voice for justice.
