May is the month for Global Missions emphasis and we will collect an Offering for Global Missions. This year’s theme is “Because Presence Matters.” 100% of this offering goes to support the long-term presence of Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF) field personnel serving in the United States and around the world. HBC supports the work of CBF around the world which includes our partnership with the Protestant Church of Morocco. Highland’s Global Mission Team has set a goal of $10,000. These funds support over 50 field personnel working in over 18 countries who are cultivating community and doing transformative work both locally and around the world. We know from our partners in Morocco that one of the most important, and in some cases, the only witness possible, is to be present, or as Karen Thomas Smith says, “a ministry of accompaniment.” Click here to see how your offerings will be used.
During the month of May, we will hear from HBC members regarding their support for missions and on May 19 we will hear from Rev. Dr. Lynn Brinkley, recently appointed as Pan African Koinonia Field Ministry Coordinator, a position focused on assisting the Pan African Koinonia in fulfilling its purpose to cultivate an increased presence of Black individuals and churches throughout CBF life.
