“Can we talk?” comedian Joan Rivers would say in disgust.

The answer is: not easily or well.

Mostly we pontificate, presume, and polarize.

Even when we attempt to convey an idea across culture divides as wide as the East-West, Christian-Muslim span we communicate about as clearly as this Middle Eastern protester, who apparently ran his message through an internet translator: “Florida church stop barking of your pop.”

As a way of honoring the victims of those attacks, and to offer a peaceful, positive alternative to a Qur'an burning ceremony in Florida an interfaith service will be held at Highland Baptist Church at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 11, 2010.

On Saturday, September 11, Kentucky Baptist Fellowship, in partnership with Kentucky Refugee Ministries, the Eglise Evangelique au Maroc, Catholic Charities, Buechel Park Baptist Church, and Highland Baptist Church will organize a "Voices United for Refugees" walk to raise awareness about the plight of Subsaharan refugees in Africa and how Kentuckians can respond.
